Brookwood: Pocket Tactics
Inspired by Redwall, WarCraft, and the tactics genre, Brookwood: Pocket Tactics is a tiny tactics game for the Game Boy Color. Built with the Forgotten Engine by nowheresoft, (and GB Studio), it is a game about managing your troops in a battle of medival animals. Play as one of four factions (the Khalifa of Rodents, the Sultanate of Cats, the Eashir of Birds, and the Hashd'n of Lizards) in an Islamic-inspired world.
Brookwood was originally prototyped for the GB Studio Game Jam 2021, and you can play that janky, buggy demo still. However, this game is currently in active development to be revamped and updated for a release sometime in 2023.
Instructions:
Click on a unit with 'A' to move them. Click 'Fight' to engage the enemy, or press 'B' to cancel. Press 'Start' or 'B' to end the turn before both player units have moved. Press 'Select' to check your current HP.
During the enemy turn, enemy units will target the nearest player unit and attack if within range.

Out of curiousity was this primarily a plugin or evented in gb studio?
It's all events, a crazy series, but it works.
cool game!
Thanks so much! I love your pixel art tutorials!
This is definitely super cool, I love the setting. It’s not super fun right now, and when I started mashing on the enemy turn phase I think I selected an enemy unit and got stuck. It lacks a lot of stuff in these kinds of games (cancel movement for example), but it’s super cool as a proof of concept.
I hope to see more of this!
Oh wow, this is really quite cool! I agree that the coding is quite impressive. Going to share this with link some of my friends ^__^
this is extremely impressive
I would like you to turn this into a full game. It was a little tedious to get to where the enemies were and it was a bit confusing at first, but this has a ton of promise and I’m super impressed by the graphics, the world, and especially the coding
This game is really cool, and very well made! I wish it had multiplayer tho! Let's hope they make it possible in the future!
Yeah, I had a fantasy about doing link cable vs mode. We'll see if they ever implement that
I think it might come in gbs 3. That would be perfect for this game!
I think you should add multiplayer where you trade the gameboy too. It would be just as fun
